Has anyone run into this problem...

Post by RevRick »

A. I no longer get combat reports, even though the switch is on for them. I get the local weather report instead. Minor glitch, but aggravating.

B. LCDR Waldron, in my current game assigned to Torpedo 8, has Leadership and Inspiration ratings of ZERO. And I thought Meathead Moore was bad at 56 each. Anyway, this is having a absolutely catastrophic effect on the squadron, to say the least.

Now, is this something that cropped up in a patch, or do I have a local problem with my install, or with the computer?

In the scenario which covers the historical GC campaign I've seen Waldron with the zero/zero ratings. There's a couple of other 0 guys too - but they're pilots and you can get them up to usable if you're careful with them (and lucky - I had Chapman start at 0 in a Cat sqd. Not an option to sit the sqd until he reached exp 50 so he flew as a zero - and eventually made it into the 70s....). Pretty sure Matrix is aware of this as Ron S passed it back to them. But that avenger sqd is pretty much toast in the meantime. Send them against a heavily defended TF and hope he gets shot down - unless, like Meathead Moore, he's a non-flyer (don't think that's the case though).

I've seen A :) Or at least something like it.

Or at least I used to sometimes suffer from the same problem in pre 2.3 days. There used to be a 'hidden' button on the Land Combat Unit screen. It was / appeared to be just to the left of the All Unit's Attack button (but not visible on the screen). Sometimes when trying to click the All Unit's Attack I would see a brief message flash up saying something like 'Combat reports switched off'. After that I got no in game reports. Yet when I checked the settings combat reports were on and even turning them off and on again did not restore it....

Clicking about in that area on the LCU screen would eventually get a 'Combat reports switched on' message or something similar. And the problem went away :)

I have not had this recently but then I am always careful on this screen now. Or maybe the latest patch has done away with it....

I hope this helps. I hated being without these and it took me a few game days to sort out when it firts happened.

Good luck!
