1945

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Have been playing and enjoying this "to the bitter end" version of WiTE for 2 years now, takes a while between work and family! The Germans have most of European Russia and the big 4, Moscow, Leningrad, Stalingrad and the Entire Caucaus region. But what of the war with the western allies? I do not imagine the Germans on the Volga while Patton is advancing on Berlin! Is something built into the game accounting for a much slower war in the west or? BTW all my allies are still in the game with the exception of Italy. Would really appreciate hearing some answer on this, Thank you.

AFAIR there is no such mechanism. The advance of the Western Allies continues normally no matter what the situation is on the Eastern Front. It is not very realistic but that will change once WitE2 comes out.

If you want to simulate the Western Allies advance and spice things up, you can implement some house rules on your units in the East eg pull some of them back (to send them west) or disband some of them (to simulate moving manpower to the other front).

Cheers!

There is no feature because the allied advance is historical no matter what, I believe they have some advancing for the allies if you survive after may 8th but its still unchangeable. If you want to make the game more difficult, you can put divisions on 100% TOE, and put them in areas where they wont protect areas from paratroopers or partisans or breakthroughs, and they wont garrison and cities, so they are effectively useless and it is the equivalent of sending them west.
