mortars won't target

Maybe this is a silly question from someone who hasn't read the manual. Sorry. Quite often when I select a mortar unit then right click to get the target menu, then select HE, then move my cursor to the area I want targeting and click, no target box appears. Nothing happens instead. No message as to why targeting not possible. This is within range, using units with plenty ammo. For example, in Attack in Bullenhausen, the US mortar unit behaves like this. I'm using the latest version, which is the beta including stacking changes. Any simple explanation for this? Thanks.

Is the unit moving? Is the target line red before you click on the area?

Thanks. Not moving and green line. I just did a completely fresh install, which changed nothing. Try it. Open up Attack in Bullenhausen, set it running and then try to give the US mortars a fire order. I'm sure there's a simple explanation...

I tried it, and it works. The line should be orangish, not green. Have you hidden the target lines? Ctrl+B.
