Am playing D21 and when I kick off the Soviet turn losses come up something like this straight away.
I don't think there has been any air base attack and movement has not started yet.
Then as the turn continues the losses increase a little, am guessing mostly from Interdiction (my air force are all on AS or Interdiction).
So what are these initial losses, is this some sort of attrition or something else ?

There were some furballs, am guessing that was it.
That is a high kill rate for the Soviets, their Air Shock 5%, Axis 125%.
Am I doing something daft that is giving them a ratio of something like 1:3.
It was similar for T1 and T2.

Furballs are different, I think.
The general combat seems to be affected by what kind of air assignments you have at the end of the turn ... not sure.

I tried setting everything to Rest and still got exactly the same losses.

You must keep in mind that pilots will claim more then killed actually.
During your turn your losses will be real one(plane destroyed), damaged one's are not counted.
Enemy will be increased from +50% to +250%.

So looks like this is dependent on how much combat there were was in the previous turn.
