The vid is another example of the concept USNI was discussing last month about using the F-35Bs from austeer bases to help protect the fleet and project combat power.

Yes. I agree. A lot of my posts recently reflect what is emerging really fast about how the US is demonstrating distributed (get in and get out) firepower. The concept is across all services now. Shoot-and-scoot is taking on a larger role above the tactical level.

May require cross training including combat to defend bases.

Every Marine's a rifleman!

There's likely also an appropriately sized security force that would be deployed to the forward base in order to protect it.
