I would keep the CVs two to a TF for coordination and protection. It is of course opinion on my part but I
would not like a strike by KB which can concentrate so well to hit one TF with all the US CVs in it. I
also think you could suffer coordination issues at this juncture in the war with four to a TF. Two cents.

Well, they really hit all ships in a hex now so I would have to split the carriers into 2 different hexes to thwart a massed strike in that way. But then I would lose the services of a good many fighters on CAP.

Where are your General Lees allocated? In Burma as well?

Yes. Lots of tanks, and they will be making a massed assault at Taung Gyi if I ever get this turn away. One big tank unit left in India for counter-invasion security, plus some smaller armored units, but by far most of the armor is in Burma

Do you have base forces forward in Burma? Corp COs?

NCAC Army HQ is marching through the jungle now. IV Indian Corps HQ is at Meiktila so will aid the assault on Taung Gyi (albeit without prep).

"packet" would select a specific TF.

You are correct, before it was changed. I don't remember when it was changed but certainly a long time. As usual, the algorithm was not released AFAIK. Can't say how heavily one TF gets favored (or even if so).

Have time to (hopefully) finish the turn now. The Lex/Sara/Wasp TF must have taken no air strikes at all because AAA ammo is 100%.

I was going to go with 2x fleet CV TF as recommended but no I'm having second thoughts about that; going with 1x TF will give them all much better AAA protection.

Here are the assignments for the surface combat TF's. Unfortunately the "6" hot key doesn't display the return legs or the travel to the patrol zone, but this should give you the idea.

Straight up the middle will go the fast BB TF, a CL TF, and the remaining CL & DD TF with former Yorktown's escorts. To the right and curving in the 22 knot old BB TF, and a CA TF. To the left the 21 knot old BB TF (16 inch guns), a CA TF.

Destroyers are also going straight up the middle. In addition, various destroyers (especially those already away from the fleet) wll move in from the KB's flanks and rear to impede its movement.

• Urumchi will soon be our last base in China. Enemy units are seen moving west from Paoshan, I'm guessing the armored division will speed into Burma so we can destroy it.

• Movement NW out of Toungoo. I presume it's the armored division there moving to intercept our infantry division which has been heading toward the IJN defensive position in the jungle just NW of Toungoo. Our division will dig in instead and reinforcements will join them. The trail NW from Toungoo is a railroad bed, pretty slow for armor. My plan was to attack through the road west of Toungoo toward Prome. Now I will give the Imperial armor time to redeploy to that road, out of Toungoo, then send the main effort into Toungoo from the NE (the mass of force now focusing on Taung Gyi).

Thats the most naval action over a week in '43 Ive ever seen. It's hard to get a handle on from afar. Not seeing
any fires on his flat tops when the last big strike arrived over him makes me think he could hang around for
some more and if he's aggressive, persue you to destiny. His naval air groups have to be significantly reduced
but I would would have to make this a battle of reckoning if was IJN. I'm a bit white knuckled watching.

Walter just got back from India, so I'm not certain if he'll get to the turn today or if he'll be laid up with hyper-sonic jet lag due to the Coriolis effect. So a little more color.

I did miss changing orders to one DD TF and one CA TF, so I guess they will form a floating reserve for next turn.

By and large we have some destroyers and cruisers moving to intercept the enemy carriers, which include their cripples as far as I can tell. Our carriers and transports are heading east, with attack planes switched to naval search to aid in submarine evasion. The fast battleships and undamaged old BB groups will meet up with the operational fleet carriers. The damaged old BB's, which engaged IJN crippled carriers overnight, will attempt to escape northeast.

Lexington is unlikely to escape due to her low speed. The carriers damaged the previous day are, miraculously, all un-spotted and will continue limping away to the southeast.

We have lots of subs moving on the enemy carriers. Keep your fingers crossed.
