RE: 1943 April 13
I wish they could. They're heading heading for Midway just to clear to the northeast in case some IJN carriers head northeast themselves. They'll angle back toward Pearl of course when it's safe to do so. There are lots of AKE, etc. at Johnston so they won't have to go all the way back.ORIGINAL: BBfanboy
Congrats on knocking off Ise and possibly two CAs and a DD! I hope your BBs can rearm nearby and be ready for next steps.
The carriers are a different story. Even the few that can fight need aircraft and likely pilots. And Enterprise, while technically operational is just barely able to operate aircraft. We really have 2 carriers that could put back to sea to fight after replenishing, and one of them is Wasp.
Will our fleet of crippled carriers get away? The world wonders.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP
Overall
• We've lost sight of most of the major IJN TF's. The CVE's engaged today are in the only big TF we have sight of. Many of our TF's are sighted hard, but not so many of our subs. I expect the TF contacts are mostly from land based and submarine based aircraft. There is one sub 10/10 contact that smells more like KB, but the sighting aircraft was not identified. The IJN CVE's near Roi-Namur certainly are sighting some TF's as at least one CVE appears undamaged and launched strikes today.
• Our own CVE's are spotted DL 8/10, but our operational fleet carriers and undamaged old BB's, just one hex away, are not spotted. All will move east tomorrow to avoid engagement.
• Two heavily damaged CVE (without any escorts) are spotted DL 7/7 about 10 hexes east of Makin as they were heading SE. The are changing course for Johnston Island (NE) to avoid giving away the track of the damaged fleet CV and a CVE heading SE just 3 hexes ahead of them That TF put of full speed today to create that distance.
• The VP ratio dropped slightly below 2:1 today!

RE: 1943 April 15
Hiryu, Soryu, and Unyo have not been hit. Are there others he could have at this time which I am not listing?
Add Taiho to that list, I think.

RE: 1943 April 15
Do you know what the VP was for IJ knocking off Chungking?
RE: 1943 April 15
Technically not specifically, but my VP deficit this turn was about 2,000. [X(]ORIGINAL: zuluhour
Do you know what the VP was for IJ knocking off Chungking?
Up to almost 2.2 to 1 from just under 2 to 1. The recent air-sea battles have helped stabilize the ratio, I think. Not to mention chip the IJN sword.
