RE: FITE2 Søren Russia, Kristian Germany
I have made a new gif, going from turn 1 to turn 32 - the start of the mud.
The Germans are at the gates of Vyazma, Kursk, and Kharkov, but the actual capture of the cities have not been accomplished. Maybe it will be possible after the mud when the road freezes (especially is Typhoon is launched). We will see.

Love the gifs, they make really easy to follow developments.
RE: FITE2 Søren Russia, Kristian Germany
Despite RL time issues the battle has raged on.
The GIF is of turns 42-74 covering the Russian Winter offensive.
The Russians choose to eliminate the Finns. After that, they tried to eliminate the German bridgehead over the Luga River to make Leningrad more secure. The German was indeed push back but they managed to hold on to Tolmachyovo where 6th Panzer Regiment withstood 10 attacks before the Russian gave up the direct assault and tried to surround the city. But all Russian gains to incircle the city was quickly retaken by the Germans in fierce counter-attacks, and the city held (this is not really visible in the GIF as all the picture are from the end of the German turn, where the hexes had been retaken)
The Russians also attacked strongly north of the Ilmen lake, retaking Novgorod and pushing the German all the way to Simsk. The Russians also attacked on most of the rest of the front, but without gaining much ground. The effort, however, has cost the german nearly as many casualties as they took during their own summer offensive, making the German commander wonder if a more mobile defense would have worked better.
At the end the offensive the Russians managed to make some ground by attacking the Romanians on the southern sector but was unable to reach the Dnepr River.

RE: FITE2 Søren Russia, Kristian Germany
Focused effort on one front, not much in the rest except attritional attacks, it seems. Speaking about losses, how severe were the soviets'?
RE: FITE2 Søren Russia, Kristian Germany
They were heavy too.
I will try to get exact numbers from both sides to compare later on.

Quite heavy expecially on the fighters. They fared better than I expected with the tanks kills/losses ratio.
With Finland gone, they can redeploy a lot of troops and not worry for Leningrad anymore.

RE: FITE2 Søren Russia, Kristian Germany
We are still playing.
We are working on a new release in the next few weeks, but so far we keep this game rolling.
We are at the start of the summer. The GIF is from turn 90 to 109. Case Blau was launched on turn 110. I (as the Germans) launched Trappenjagd and Störfang in the North. The gains are were fairly small and hard to see in the GIF, so there are separate pictures of the progress below.
The aims of these offensives were 3 fold:
1) To secure the Luga-Tolmachyovo rail line
2) To make the Russians believe that Case Blau would be launched against Leningrad. In fact, it would be launched in the far South.
3) To make "proof of concept" using massed Panzers and artillery
All 3 objectives were completed.
But the Leningrad diversion proved to work too well in a way: The Russians did not anticipate that Case Blau would be launched in the South. He, therefore, had massed his best units down there to make a counteroffensive after Case Blau was launched to try to catch the Germans off guard as they were busy attacking somewhere else.
Whether that was a good or a bad thing for the Germans remains to be seen as Case Blau unfolds. It makes a breakthrough that more difficult, but on the other hand it gives the Germans a chance to maul the best Russian units during high Shock. Case Blau has only just been launched, so the jury is still out on that one.
