This is a excellent idea and I am very thankful you are taking the time required to set this up. Having set up more than my fair share of discords for various games , I am aware of the time and the work it requires to do so , especially one as in-depth as this one is planned to be.

Is this really necessary? Theres already the official matrix discord with a Command channel and Peters/Apaches server.

Discord is a proprietary freeware VoIP application and digital distribution platform—designed initially for the video gaming community—that specializes in text, image, video and audio communication between users in a chat channel.
Discord runs on Windows,macOS,Android,iOS,Linux,and in web browsers.

for a while there has been the possibility for developers and publishers to verify and make the official discord server for their own games .. thanks to this you have advantages, comforts and improvements that are not available in normal servers

It is a great Voice or Text (Users or Admin choice) or both form of communication that is instant. A modern IRC (Internet Relay Chat) , it facilitates file transfers as well as many other benefits.

Call it SKYPE for gamers , that is a good description. Here are some of the toms guide thoughts on it....

If you can type and hit the enter button after that you have about 90% of it down already. Using the voice features is a little more in depth but not much . Should be nothing to it for most players , its probably harder to post a reply on these forums than to use discord. Only thing that most people need to learn is how to jump from room to room IF they need to. The rest is intuitive and everyday chat like in its function.
