Is there anyway to pause the game when it's on auto mode?

Is there anyway to pause the game when it's on auto mode? Or the AI is running the game. Thanks for the response in advance.

The Pause/Break key on the keyboard will pause a Hotseat or PBEM++ replay, and I believe the same key works for AI playback... however if it doesn't something you could use is the Ctrl+Q buttons which will then ask you if you wish to Quit the game. This can act as a pause of the AI, and simply press Cancel when you are ready to go back to letting the AI continue.

I don't have a pause/play button. I have a laptop. The Crl/Q worked. What I was looking to do was to get in the options section. That shortcut does not work while the AI is on. I was hoping that if I paused the game I could get into options. Looks like that is not an option. No pun intended. Thanks for the help.
