Far left displays kills. What do center and right icon signify respectively?

The top row is solder kills, acts of bravery, acts of cowardice. The bottom row has tanks, vehicle, and gun kills.

Can individual soldiers earn something other than the Purple Heart (bronze star, etc) like in prior versions of the game?

Can we get an explanation of the symbols and colors (color combinations) in the attribute section of the soldiers screen? I’ guessing the plus and minus symbols
mean an increase or decline in that particular attribute.

The colors are: Green > 75% maximum, yellow > 50%, orange > 25%, red is less than that.

The plus or minus signs will appear on the Debrief version of the Soldiers screen to show you changes in values as a result of the last battle.

But why are some of the lines in the attributes section multiple colors? Brown and green or brown and red.

On the soldier screen as viewed from Debrief you will see a + or - and a bit of green or red at the end to indicate how much a value changed as a result of the previous battle.
