Ship withdrawal help needed

Post by HvMoltke »

I have not realized that it costs a lot of PP, if you do not withdraw a ship in time. In my case it is the Dominion Monarch.
Manual says:
To withdraw a ship, the ship must be off-map or at any national home base except the NEI or PI.
So what is a national home base for a British ship?
What is NEI and what PI? I know DEI and PH
I brought Dominion Monarch to Chittagong and disbanded the naval unit, but no possibility to withdraw showed up on the ship information screen

You need large enough port which is far enough from the current enemy locations. Bombay will do, maybe Colombo
Hopefully somebody will chime in with exact specifics

PI is Phillippine Islands.

NEI is Netherlands East Indies.....same thing as DEI.

The original rule in the manual has been changed at least once if not twice by updates.

Like GetAssista, I don't recall specifics, but locations possible for withdrawals was expanded.

IIRC Dominion Monarch is the first withdrawal that comes very early and you almost need to start planning for it on the first day of the war.

Be sure to look ahead in the withdrawal queue and make plans for the next few in line.

Air squadron withdrawals don't need to be in specific locations but some small isolated bases will have a detrimental impact on whether, or not you can save the pilots.

LCUs (Land Combat Units) withdraw automatically no matter where they are so little planning is required other than to not have them involved in an important battle and lose their assault value contribution to that battle, or not have them defending an important base.

I'm not even sure it needs to be the ship's 'native' national port - just a big enough/safe enough one. I am pretty sure I removed one of the Queens on the US West Coast once upon a time.

When PP`s vanished, I began to look which is next immediately.
So maybe its enough I bring her to Colombo, which is next.
AE is a constant challenge, now I`m in Game6 DBB lite Feb 1942 and still there are question over questions.

I think this is still the current case:
fb.asp?m=2838867

There is a useful Wiki:
https://witp-ae.fandom.com/wiki/Unit_Withdrawal#Ships

The links in the article show the national home ports.

You might want to set the Wiki as a favorite but I’m not sure it is still up to date
as I have not checked the whole thing.

Well I really should have come down on you a little bit.

You are in Feb 1942 and you have not looked at what all the buttons on
your Intelligence screen do?

you should examine every nook and cranny of this complex game.

There is a line in the Godfather which is sexist but true:

"Women and Children can afford to be careless.Grown Men can't afford to be careless"

Haha,
what time is it in North Carolina?
Do you sleep write?

I go a different path, I stumble over nook and cranny, whatever that is.

Right now it is 07:10 EST.

I get up around 05:30 every day. I had to do that when I was working, I'm retired now.
I don't sleep very well.

I visited Bavaria when I was in the Navy in 1977.
Very beautiful there.

Hi Trugrit
Was out with my wife as we have a sunny Autumn day.
Yes I get up early too, same reason, and also retired since June. I like this.
The nook and cranny is a sailor thing, isn`t it?
Back to the game, it eats up a lot of time. I began in January and now I am in my 6th game start. But I improve, slowly slowly.
I`m impressed by those who have several PBEM games running.

Good for you, make time for your wife.

Yes, there are some smart and talented people who play this game.
Not me, I'm pass my use by date.

Nook and Cranny.
I don’t think it is a naval term but it applies very well to this game.
There is a lot under the surface and in hidden places.

There are probably some things you won’t learn for a year or more.

That was the case with me. You can learn something new every day in this game.

You just have to read and dig for it.
