Italian Turn 1

Post by RobW »

The scene is set. Italian forces aroudn Beda Fomm are expecting an assault. The early dawn is shattered by a mass barrage that couses some of our less prepared units to run away.

The Barrage lifts and we wait......Italian smoke arrives, trying to control the Allies view of the field.

A few tentative probes. In the North I encounter some cavalry and a lost Greek truck with infantry in it. Take out 1 Greek cavalry unit (for the loss of a jeep) but manage to destroy the truck and force the crew & infantry to retreat

Italian Turn 2

Massed Allied forces in the north - crusaders, armoured cars and cavalry. Manage to take out 1 armoured car and 2 crusaders. Elsewhere Allied artillery continues to pound the village in the center and mine is targeted at artillery smoke from his opening barrage - hope he didn'r move those 3" mortars

Italian Turn 3

Post by RobW »

The Greek forces in the North, stengthend by Armoured cars and crusaders are pushing forwrd. Nothing I can get to them seems to last more than 5 minutes. IN the center a Matilda dispatches a gun limber and a flame tank but IO manage to retake the VH's.

Things do not look good for the Italians at the moment

End of the road

Battle ends quickly, when the axis realizes that his efforts are doomed. Greek 17th motorize infantry bn. with Anzac Armor punches a hole wide enough in the south.

Northern flank : the Arab village is overrun by a company of Anzacs and a pair of Crusader I CS tanks.

It was a classical example of what allenby did to turks in 1917, when one flank pinned the opposing side while the mobile arm punched a hole and then moved to encircle the other side.

Of distinguished service were the AC of the recce. co of the RTR. They valiantly attacked the AT positions and destroyed a pair of flame tanks.

For King and Country !

I admit, I messed this up from the start - buying too many ATGs without checking the range......you live and learn
