Garrison AI needs love

Post by Fintilgin »

I'm enjoying the game, but the AI's garrison logic needs some serious love.

I present my evidence to the court:

Moscow ungarrisoned in August 1941 (1939 scenario). Bryansk and Kursk in that screenshot were also snatched up by tanks because no Russians thought they were worth defending. Same for a bunch of cities in Ukraine including Crimea. Italians snatched Cairo because the British tanks were sunning themselves in the desert a few hundred miles south west of the city.

AI also has the very bad habit to allow its planes be trampled.

Depends. If there is a line in front and you force it to move and overrun a plane that is something that can happen to a human player.

Putting units in Garrison mode, what is the point?
When you put them back on war readiness they lose their move for a turn and you get to pay back the logistic earned. Seems little gain in this.
Can you explain the gain in this?

I use it a lot, you get 25% of their production dumped back in and they use little supply. Early on before 1941, I have every German unit I can on garrison and I get a ton of PP to build more units.

It is a pain with minors and even Italy so beware, you can put units on garrison and not have the PP and logistics to take them off!

So, my understanding, is that the benefit is you get a PP boost and more overall supplies.
