Multiplayer save games and updates

Post by comsolut »

I thought we had a representation that updates would not effect saved multiplayer server games but my opponent has informed me the update has wiped all the units in production?

Developer please respond!

Not to gainsay what your opponent reported, but my experience: I did the update, then played a PBEM turn, no problem with the production queue. I deployed units from the queue, and saw others there for later deployment.

I have no reason to doubt my opponent. Sent him this message and will wait to hear more from the forum tomorrow.

Alright, will try a few more turns tomorrow, but I'm very skeptical now about the game if updates are going to break things. Kind of wish I waited to purchase now, always too trusting the next game will be different, and should just learn to wait a year.

Oh well.

Till tomorrow.

Happy Halloween.

Same problem here. Is in our pbem game gwgardner. I'll wait to make the turn until the developer says something...

I am that opponent.

For some reason the update to 02 caused all the default units (the sub, Para unit and Bismark) along with all my purchased units to be removed (erased/deleted) from the Deployment screen.

This happens also in games vs AI. Apparently only the Axis queue is affected.

It happened to both me (Axis) and my opponent (Allied) in a multiplayer game - we both now have the "No units to deploy" message.
We just chocked it up to growing-pains with a new game.

I really am not sure why. The queues weren't touched. I'll look into it.

Very weird. If someone wants to pm me an ai game save.

So I am guessing it's best not to update if you have ongoing games. I hope my opponents have not done so. This is one of my pet peeve's, games wrecked due to updates.

This deployment bug only seems to affect the French and Germans. I am not seeing it affecting the other major powers.

My initial enthusiasm has definitely been jolted back to reality.

I'm constantly reminding myself it's just a game. But then also think I sunk time and money into being disappointed again.

It's hard not to become cynical. [&:]

Over the years I have learnt not to ever update immediately. Wait a few days to see what happens is the best course. I am not worried about he money, it's a cool game. So I am in. But the time wasted if a PBEM gets wrecked. That's a killer. One of my games is safe, neither of us have updated. Hopefully the other is ok as well.
