Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Is it just me or is it easier to defend against units attacking from a mountain hex than it is to try to hold a mountain hex from attack? Also, do mountain hexes come with attrition even to mountain divisions and even when said units are not in a ezoc?

No attrition from just being on a mountain hex, however the MPs to get into the mountain may make it hard to resupply units in the mountain (I can't remember but mountain units may have it easier in that respect). Being in a mountain provides big CV bonuses so it should be easier to defend in the mountain hex, just be sure to have a depot very close by if at all possible.
