Minor Issues/Wish List

Post by Bronze »

I love this game, hence why I have taken the time to compose this list.

1. Fleets can get frozen in in the Baltic. My fleet supporting the assault on Leningrad gets stuck in place when the blizzard hits - I would like to think they would see the ice beginning to form and move out of the area and I don't have enough foresight to know when it will form.
1b. Yet I can still supply them with a fleet tanker.
1c. I can do beachhead supply even when my fleet is out of supply.

2. It is incredibly hard for me at times to discern who controls which hexes. French control vs. German control in the rain is just about impossible unless I hover over and read each hex.

3. It's way to easy to influence Turkey and get them to join the axis.
3b. With Turkey at 97% influenced, Russia has zero units at the border or even in the area. They do a great job of defending the area once they rail in units.

4. If I have several submarine units in say Brest, I click on "Raider", move 2 of the 5, yet they have defaulted back to "Fleet" and I cannot then change them to "Raider." (they at times will get sunk on the ensuing turn).

5. Before Romanian war entry, under the convoy tab, the oil from Romania to Italy almost always says "blocked" despite the obvious land connections.

6. I agree, to much available rail capacity. And maybe add an oil cost to rail movement? I suspect railing a panzer corps from Moscow to Paris required more oil than a large Fighter sorti...

7. Perhaps if I completely defeat France and all its European territories Spain should get a % in political leaning towards the axis?

8. After capturing Basra, I am able to go and capture the allied pacific resources.

9. Maybe captured units could donate a few resources to the stockpile? I just captured 3 Russian mech and armored corps and nothing.

10. It would be really cool, in say version 1.26, if a report on where "Upkeep" goes could be added.

11. Tweaking the AI invasion logic: the enemy usually leaves it's port unguarded. Also, the logic on where to land is head scratching. In May '42 the allies land an invasion in north Africa despite France being surrendered and no allied units to support anywhere in Africa. I am able to contain this large invasion with 4 Italian units lacking a HQ and air support. (they should have gone for Rome, Marseille or even one of the larger Italian islands first...)

12. The Soviets don't even bother to defend the Crimea.
12b. I also find them grouping their HQ units.
12c. It's a little to easy to overrun all their aircraft - perhaps they should split the occasional army unit to create a speed bump or 2.

13. For the life of me I can't figure out paratroop drops. Not once in over 2 years has my para unit in Frederikshavn, Denmark, been able to drop in Norway when its been at 100% effective. Rarely are my units in northern France able to drop (sometimes). Yes, I have amble airlift supplies, 100% effectiveness, command control and good weather.

14. Is the Italian Trento CA Group meant to have a max strength of 2? If so, why not other Axis naval units?

15. Is there a way to read the initial scenario report without quitting and reloading the game?

16. I am unable to rail resources to Finland despite there being an unsabotaged rail link (okay, I guess that changing trains and rails may make this impractical).
16b. However, I am strugging to understand the using of merchant marine shipping. Let's say I want to ship 30 resources and 5 oil (Germany is nowhere near running out-I do have that happen later in the game which makes sense) to Finland: Germany has 53 merchant marine points, Finland has 5. No need for convoys anywhere else. In the report at the beginning of the turn it says Finland has insufficient mm points (right) and that it will have to use some of Germany's. It appears however that this doesn't happen as Finland doesn't get these resources since Finland reads zero for both resource and oil points on the upkeep and stockpile columns. (I am implying that I think there's a bug with merchant marine supply).

Loving this game and finding the AI fairly competent(please take that as a strong compliment)!

1. Not much I can do here. Players should be aware when it is freezing in the arctic. I will have a weather chart up soon.
1b. I can fix
1c. I can fix

2. You can change the graphics. It's very light color and depends on your monitor also. But I will see what I can do.

3. Diplomacy is NOT recommended for the game. It is there in case players want to create a scenario around it. By default it will be disabled from now on.

4. Known bug that will be fixed next patch

5. Send me the save game it says that. I will send you a PM with my email.

6. Trains ran on coal not oil. I have been considering lowering rail cap.

7. Historically no. Spain didn't want to go to war with anyone unless the UK was taken out.

8. Pacific resources really aren't in play and shouldn't be considered that they are there just for convoys.

9. Tough mechanic to implement for game play balanced but I will put the suggestion on my list.

10. I'll take it into consideration.

11. A.I. is always a work in progress. Very difficult to program A.I. in a game like this. I can kill any invasion of an A.I. on the beach in any game without reading the rules.

12. A.I. is a work in progress. And splitting was just added to the A.I. in the next patch

13. DOW and hover over the enemy hex you want to drop. You will see a paradrop icon. Also you need an air transport available. The Air transport button itself is for resupply.

14. Bug known.

15. WarPlan\Manuals\Scenario Notes.pdf

16. Trades menu -> Select Germany on left, Finland on right. Use middle arrow buttons to choose how much to give. Click create trade.

Thanks for the compliment.
