PBEM Issues

Post by Michael T »

@Alvaro

I am playing a PBEM via the multiplayer server. I have had no issues till just today. When I ended my turn I had an upload failure. And it appears that if this occurs the turn is not saved, but is lost. So you have to redo it all over again. Please can you improve this so that the move saves first locally, then uploads, and if it fails then the player just logs on again and has the option to upload the file again. This is exactly how the process works for WITE Multiplayer ++PBEM.

I hope this makes sense to you. Anyway it took me 4 reloads, without saving to to try and get my turn close to the original. A series of naval battles made it very difficult to replicate similar results. In the end I accepted a far worse result for myself than in the original move.

Please add a feature that first saves the PBEM prior to upload. So that this kind of thing does not keep happening.

So I have never tried saving a PBEM game before.

Does it work to save at the end of your turn and then reload that if the PBEM upload fails ?

I note that if you do save the PBEM game during play, and then end turn normally, then if you later try and load the PBEM save it won't load.

Another question on PBEM, if you send a message in game to your opponent do they get an alert ?
I sent one message and he didn't get it but maybe there was an alert that was ignored. Without an alert there is not much value in the message feature.
The lark, signing its chirping hymn,
Soars high above the clouds;
Meanwhile, the nightingale intones
With sweet, mellifluous sounds.
Enough of Stalin, Freedom for the Ukraine !

I have had to stop in the middle of a PBEM turn and had it save successfully to the server so that I could continue later.

I have not tried this, but have not experienced the upload problem the OP mentions

An alert would be very helpful, and I have experienced the same 'black hole' for in game messages...I tracked my opponent down here and we are communicating via email...an in game solution would be easier.
