Rasputitsa

Post by hansondavid4 »

I have been playing a solo game (both side) to get a feel for the game.

I launch Barbarossa in April with some clear weather on part of the front. Pretty much had little problems with spring weather. Frequently clear in some part of the front, rested or staged forward troops in sectors where there was some light rain. I had pushed up to Minsk and Kiev by the beginning of June.

There was really nothing like a long mud season in the spring and fall. It seems like there should be some sort of mud effect for a couple of months in the spring and fall to slow down the attacker. The game does not model this at all well. The Germans seem to have too long of "decent" campaigning weather. It seems like you can reasonable attack from April to November rather than late June until October. Barbarossa and Case Blue both were launched near the end of June largely because this was the earliest the road could logistically support an offensive.

Thanks for the input. Some players stated rain was too tough, you state too easy. All this depends on how you play also. The main problem comes in France from what I seen where players are attacking early.
