Partisan Question

Post by jcrohio »

If this as been answered I apologize in advance but I could not find it in either the manual or the forums.

My question is with all the partisans I am getting in France, Norway, Yugoslavia, Greece etc. I understand that they cut the rail lines. I have watched videos of players rushing units to partisan sites to combat them. I try to get a unit on top of or adjacent to all partisan rail attacks. Getting a unit there does not seem to clear out the attack so the rail line remains closed. There are times when I can't get a unit there. Either way the partisan controlled rail hex is under my control on the following turn.

So is it a waste of time to rush divisions around every turn? Am I right in assuming partisans are going to disappear next turn whether I react to them or not? Am I missing something?

I am assuming all this does not apply to Russia. With actual partisan units, they must be destroyed or will continue to damage rails.

Thanks for the help.

There are two types of partisans.

Visible units - you need to kill these or they will run around and do more damage. They are not too common to start with, I think the earliest ones will be in USSR during '41.

Partisan attacks. These just cut the rail lines, there is no actual unit and the rail will be repaired automatically.
The lark, signing its chirping hymn,
Soars high above the clouds;
Meanwhile, the nightingale intones
With sweet, mellifluous sounds.
Enough of Stalin, Freedom for the Ukraine !

Rail line hits get automatically repaired. This partisan attack just reflects blowing up rail lines, stalling supplies, or blowing up factories. In placed like France just be sure to put units in resource locations mostly.

In Russia, Germany, Spain and Turkey each have scorched earth. Here you will have the normal partisan hits + physical units. You need to squash those.

Spain and turkey will be 1.00.03

Hmm to add the Partisans to Spain imo will only worse the state of the game.
To close the Mediterranean should be a viable strategy for the Axis and not something paramount - the harder Spain turns (considering already all the added beaches / ports to man) the more you railroad the game to a '41 Barbarossa without hope to derail the game in what is the other Macro-Strategy for the Axis.
