[RESOLVED] No sound

Post by jph »

Thank you for the exciting upgrade and the attractive discount!

I searched the forum and cannot find anybody else reporting this issue. I have no sound in CMO, no background music and no sound effects. Sound appears to be working fine on my machine and it is working in other games. I have attached DX diagnostic file.

I am running version 1.00.11156 and yes, the "Use game sounds" and the "Use background music" checkboxes are checked in the game options.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Just a shot into the dark, run the DirectX installer (dxsetup.exe), it is in CMO\PreRequisites\directx_Jun2010_redist. If that doesn't help also try dotNetFx45_Full_setup.exe and vc_redist.x86.exe from the PreRequisites folder. And reboot the PC after the installation, just in case...

Hi,

Is Windows Media Player installed on your operating system?

Dimitris,

No it wasn't and installing it did indeed enable sound in the game. Too bad I had to do that but well worth it.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion Gizzmoe. I had re-run the DX installer again in an attempt to resolve my issue. I would have never guessed that the absence of WM player was the culprit, though.

In any case all is well. Thank you for the help.

Check that in the options, music and sound tab, the boxes are ticked.
