Football is stupid. Or rather, Swedish football is stupid.

A majority of the top league teams play their matches on artificial, plastic, turf. The winner is likely to be a team who has only played 6 matches on grass this season. One of the tree teams that can still win the title is a plastic pitch specialists who can not win on grass. Bah.

Mmmmmm..... I can understand why Sweden would want plastic pitches but....
I don't think you guess the main reason.

In many parts they claim it is because of the weather. But that is usually not the truth. The truth is that Swedish teams are poor and do not have their own pitch. The district, or municipality, owns the pitch and they want the pitch to be used for more than a few football matches. And plastic can be used a lot without any extra expense. In Stockholm, for example, the two current top teams, plays on the same arena owned by the city and it has a plastic pitch. But previously both teams had their own arena and both had grass. Keeping a grass pitch has become easier, and cheaper, and yet we get fewer grass pitches every year.

You are correct. I didn't guess the main reason.... That's all a bit of a shame really [:(]

Will be interesting to see how the play-off will turn out. Scotland-Norway might be exciting (if they advance), and if team 3 or 4 can do something about it. And Group D might be fun as well. I doubt that any of those 4 teams has ever been this close to entering the Euros. And I suppose that the British are glad that Northern Ireland will not be competing for the same spot as Scotland.

Thank you.

Were never any doubt that England would make it. [:)] [&o]

Interesting match for Ireland tomorrow.

You said it. Congratulations to Finland. Well deserved. [&o]

And speaking of new faces. One of the four teams in group D will be in the Euros.

For clarification.

One team from each of the four groups (A,B,C,D) will advance to the Euros. They meet in a 'standard' two matches play-off. First team 1 play against team 4, and 2 vs 3. And then the two winners fight it out who will advance to the Euro.

Now it is clear that Norway will encounter Serbia in the first play-off round. I suspect it will be a close fought encounter.

csn we all agree that sacking Pochettino is not a good idea, esp if the Mourinho rumours are true

Well, well, well..... in some ways I never saw that coming (what he achieved on the budget he had, Champions League football) - but then we are in a relegation battle, at least 4 first team players are looking to leave for nothing, there is not the slightest sign of any improvement and he appears to have run out of ideas and never a plan B.

I don't think Mourinho would be attracted to Spurs unless he convinces Levy he's changed his MO and is prepared to work with kids - we just don't have any money....

Seems something been broken for a while, but how exactly does firing him help to solve it? Madness.

I'm not one for sacking willy nilly but seriously, look at how badly we have been playing for 2 seasons now - and we are actually getting worse, with players disaffected and downing tools.

I agree about the overall form since the start of 2019. The problem was some of the end of last season could be linked to 'issues', no recruitment. Wembley, injuries so sort of overlooked. This season has been really awful.

But I'd have sacked 4 players before getting rid of Poch. And who will we get who can so seriously outperform our level of relative financial investment?

edit: seems that Levy wants Mourinho. That is going to be as bad as when he appointed George Grahem - first set of bad results and it'll explode as there will be no good will towards the manager

Did Pochettino deserve the sack....

The ESPN FC view...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPqObrpdrF0&t=0s

My view? Spurs are in meltdown. Too many players just don't want to be there. And now, Levy has just taken away one the reasons they haven't already gone.

Mourhinho? Would Levy even pay his wages?

Best wishes,
Steve
