Gary Grigsby games are mental (except the old World at War which is amazing in its being simple in layer and complicated in planning & management).

BUT on the other hand to have a combat log where I send an air unit to bomb, and then I see 0 damage total ... makes it feel useless and that you wasted fuel. Sure it hits efficiency on the target, but how much? 1%? 5%? 10%?
So I feel it's quite needed to have that detail. Personally I do not think it is overwhelming - especially as there is the 'quick' combat log (the one you see at the combat) and the more detailed on that you can go through the binoculars.

Have among options / preferences different layers of information?
Like simple / average / advanced type of combat report?

Yes, like for example the DC games do

Obviously none of us is looking for Grisbian details here, this is all another kind of game and we like it for what it is, but some more infos about what’s going on behind the scenes would be welcome.

Actually, the CSV file format data extraction would capture this info for players who are of the mindset w/o adding extra stuff to the game itself .... This is one reason AEWitp added this capability ......

Just saying ... ;>

It isn't that simplistic. Hitler made quite a few mistakes and if you, in the role of supreme German commander, avoid making them then you should do better.

Ultimately, however, come late September 1945, the Germans lose as their cities are atom bombed even if they have held on that long.

There is, quite literally, no way they can avoid this in anything more than a Risk WW2 style game.

I accept that a significant chunk of players prefer fantasy to history, but that means there are a significant chunk of players who prefer history to fantasy ... since this game is so easily moddable then it shouldn't be a problem, simply have two different versions of each scenario, one for the fantasy players and one for the historical players ... a lot of WW2 games only cater, and are structured so they can only cater, for one or the other.

This one seems to be quite different, which is a good thing.

YMMV [:)]

Phil McGregor

You might want to research the US bombing campaign in Japan a bit. The 1945 nukes weren't too powerful and the US only had a couple of them. The conventional strategic bombing campaign caused vastly more damage to Japanese cities than the nukes.

Same applies to Germany. The German industry only started to collapse once the Allies targeted the infrastructure, not urban centres. Atomic bombs aren't useful for disrupting logistics.
