UI confusion

HI All,

trying to get into this game, but I'm having a little trouble cresting the learning curve relative to selecting units and giving orders.

I understand that I should be able to select a formation, but sometimes when I select the formation the units have a red box around them....sometimes a blue box, then when I right click to get to the orders menu sometimes I can give all units a waypoint and sometimes only one...and sometimes the waypoints are red, sometimes, green, sometimes grayed out. My question is...what do these various flavors of highlighting mean? The information does not appear to be in the manual, is it out on one of the many you tube videos? and if so can someone point me at a good short one that tags the interface bases so I can get over the interface hump with this game.

If you micro manage single unit from a formation, that unit will be "detached" from original formation and recognized as independent unit, so will not follow original formation. This "detach" is depicted as red boundary around the unit. You could do "reattach" form command option to re-attach those "detached" units back into formation. In manual, search for "reattach".

Yes, you need to select the flag (or icon) to select the formation, not individual unit.
