AoW3 is a fine fantasy 4X game which has also tactical battles and RPG style hero development. You can play it as Civilization style empire building, but game also has scenarios and multi-scenario campaigns. Someones have made less-than-flattering comparisons to Civ5, like they wouldn't know that Age of Wonders series has always been hexes ever since last millennia. I recommend the game, but if eye-candy isn't a must have, you might want to consider other games in the series. AoW: Shadow Magic in particular has received some love.
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

Thanks Kuokkanen.

After playing, learning and ejoying my recent purchase of Deity Empires (with the 4 mods of "Wabbit" from the Steam Workshop, it looks quite better), my interest has grown in these style of games, the mix really fits my gameplay. So yes I bought AoW3, specially because GOG is selling it. Same sale price on Steam, but as much as I can, I rather buy on GOG.

At first, I was looking at AoW2.5 (Shadow Magic), it´s also on sale for less then €2, and the reviews are real good, but when I didn´t see any hexes in combat mode, I decided for AoW3. I get excited when I see a hex! [:)]

Again, my friend!

it had such great reviews. So I bought it.
If you like RTS games, it is good.
If you don't, then don't go near it. I deleted it as i couldn't click fast enough to win, after the first two scenarios.

if you want a wargame, you are looking at the wrong product.

Egypt Old Kingdom is on sale this week for 70% off. Just $4.49 for the base game (From $14.99), or $6.73 with what I think now is a previous version of the game. There is also a free DLC for the newer version called Master of History that adds aliens mummies and more to what otherwise looks to have a pretty historical? feel to this egyption strategy game.

I picked all of it up but haven't played yet. Pretty good reviews overall for a small indie strategy game.

By the way, November 21 on Epic launcher they have a free game with Vikings. Free games each month, not bad.
