Tutorials

Having not played for well over a year (probaly closer to two) I started playing through the tutorial.

I started with the sub ones, all were excellent, fully explained and guided through.

Next came the surface one. What a contrast! Basically the instructions boiled down to 'here's the scenario, now read the damn manually and get on with it' Marks out of 10, one. There are six, ASW 1 & 2, ASuW 1 & 2, AAW and Multi threat with the first four being identical, three of them these are supposed to have Helio, UAV available they did not. The helio were always in maintanance. I think somehow the correct files did not get coppied.

And the final problem with them is, there are simply not long enough, especially as there's no instuction to tell you what direction to go in (it is a tutorial or supposed to be). The mission area is massive, far to large to be covered in 9 hrs.

The last two look as if they might work.

I was in the same boat. I played the bombing one and before my ac managed to drop a bomb it was telling me they had missed, the messeges were far ahead of the action. Early days I suppose but a great game all the same.

I agree 100% Chris21wen - the surface tutorials not helpful at all and provide no educational benefit. The submarine ones were fantastic!

I think the new flight tutorials are good as nice, easy steps for beginners, though something more condensed would be better if you like a steeper learning curve (or a refresher).

The flight tutorials in Israel... its simply a big text... dozens of a/c and some waves flying towards you. The submarine tutorials were interactive, educational... people got hooked. Strike Tutorials were cool as well... and these "freedom of choice, BIG TEXT HERE... now go..." flight-tutorials were not so good. They didn't explain anything reg. the possibilities to utilize fighters compared to the Strike/Submarine-Tutorials... like utilizing prosecution zones... intercept missions, escort missions etc.
