[FIXED B1115.8] Strike Tutorial #2 - Driving in the Daisies

Post by CmdSoda »

Can you help me figuring out what went wrong?

I sent Tornado #5 to the mission #2 area but it does fly at an altitude of 4000ft ASL (~2500 AGL). Thats not what I set in the mission editor where I set the transit/station/attack altitude to 600/200/200. What am I doing wrong?

It's a bug, one of many. They are working on it.

But does this mean Tornados are useless right now?

I had the same issue too :/ There is a way around it though. Open up the speed and altitude window and towards the top you can manually enter an altitude and then check the 'Force' button to force the plane to fly at that altitude.

I'm working my way through the tutorial missions and this one has by far the most problems. Even mission 1 had issues where my patrol was sticking to 36,000ft - no wonder they couldn't find any ground targets.

Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

Have you tested with the new build from today?

Credit to Dimitris, of course. I'm just the messenger.

Just played it today myself, having the same problem. A lot of air units don't seem to pay attention to altitude settings in the missions, only manual settings.

This is with B1115.7 or B1115.7.1 ? Also, can you please post a save that demonstrates a specific issue? Thanks.

With the new B1115.8 install, this behavior is now fixed. Without setting any altitudes in the Mission Editor (which is how the scenario is written), The Tornados transit to the mission box at high altitude, and upon entering the box they drop to about 2000 ft and start searching, exactly as expected. Also, you can override the altitude with the altitude buttons now, both on the F2 screen or the unit summary on the main screen.

This is the only thing I've checked so far with this release, but it works just like it should

Nice.
