IJA shipping transportation regiments

Post by elcid »

I detect no evidence of IJA shipping transportation regiments in UV. The miniscule number of landing craft (mysteriously called AG which ought to mean "auxiliary gunboat") are ALL IJN. When one sinks and the commander dies, he is always a naval officer - and virtually always a preposteriously high ranking one. Never more than a junior officer would command, and usually a petty officer. The IJA sent "barge convoys" far to sea, specifically to Lunga. They operated a seperate set of landing craft (the IJA actually invented landing craft first of all military services in the world) from the navy - different classes - built in greater numbers - thousands of them. They also operated native craft in numbers, and I see none of these either.

The IJN can already put a multitude of AGs in the water. do we really need hundreds more of zero point craft filling the screen? Pretend AGs are sea trucks and native craft.

A sea truck is not the same as an AG. It has much greater capacity and it has much greater range. A native craft is about the same as the smallest landing craft. But you don't get them at all. Pretending your AGs are native craft doesn't increase your lift. UV seems to run without any Army AGs at all. So you are supporting forces in the field with a tiny fraction of the real lift you should have (compared to history).
