This is what I was exploring. When expanded, this contains shortcuts to the EMCON and
sensor windows, as well as buttons that can set radars, sonars,
and/or jammers to active or passive.
For each issue below, I used the following pre-amble actions:
[*]Open new scenario (I used Northern Inferno, ep3 fast and furious for this but I don't think it matters)
[*]Select a unit (I picked one of the "Radar (coastal)" units)
[*]Open unit Doctrine/RoE dialog box and select the EMCON settings tab
[*]Open unit Sensors dialog box
[*]Scroll RSIP to show and expand UNIT EMCON information
[*]Ensure air sensors is selected ON for the map display
[*]Observe initial state shows:
Code: Select all
EMCON settings tab which "inherit from" checked and radar/oecm/sonar all set to passive
sensor dialog shows "unit obeys EMCON" checked, radars and checkbox for the actual sensor both unchecked
RSIP "inherit from parent" checked and all active/passive buttons greyed out
Now from that starting point each time for each issue try the following...
Issue #1
[*]Uncheck the "inherit from" box in the EMCON settings tab and observe no change in the other two places for any of the information displayed
[*]Recheck the "inherit from" box in the EMCON settings tab to return to status quo ante
[*]Uncheck the "inherit from parent" box in the RSIP area -- this time observe that the EMCON settings tab "inherit from" box also unchecks at the same time and the ACTIVE/INACTIVE buttons in the RSIP light up (pale blue) to track the values in the drop down lists in the EMCON settings tab.
What I was expecting was that the latter behavior, but checking one box would only change both retaining consistency if you use the box in the RSIP.
Issue #2
[*]Uncheck the "inherit from" box in the EMCON settings tab and observe no change in the other two places for any of the information displayed
[*]Select active from the Radar drop down list in the EMCON settings tab
[*]Dismiss the EMCON obedience pop-up (yes or no will work, same results regardless of choice here)
[*]Observe RSIP now shows "inherit from" box unchecked and ACTIVE/PASSIVE buttons lit up to match EMCON settings tab drop down selections _and_ sensors window shows Radars on checked and sensor active status checked _and_ the map shows the yellow air sensor ring.
By contrast, return to starting conditions again and then:
[*]Uncheck the "inherit from parent" box in the RSIP area -- this time observe that the EMCON settings tab "inherit from" box also unchecks at the same time and the ACTIVE/INACTIVE buttons in the RSIP light up (pale blue) to track the values in the drop down lists in the EMCON settings tab.
[*]Click on the ACTIVE button in the RSIP area and note that it lights up blue
[*]Note that this time there is no pop-up box.
[*]Observe also that in this case the EMCON settings tab drop down now shows active but the Sensor dialog is unaffected by the change. The map does not show the air search range ring.
Again, I expected both methods of trying to set EMCON to active for the unit to produce the same result, former behavior seems correct and latter seems to be missing something, leaving the results inconsistent.
Issue #3
[*]uncheck the unit obeys EMCON in the sensor dialog
[*]check the radars box to set the air search radar active (yellow ring now shows on map)
[*]Uncheck the "inherit from" box in the EMCON settings tab and observe no change in the other two places for any of the information displayed
[*]Select active from the Radar drop down list in the EMCON settings tab
[*]Dismiss the EMCON obedience pop-up with the "yes" button
[*]Note that the unit obeys EMCON check in the sensor dialog turns active _and_ the "inherit from parent" check in the RSIP now clears and the active/passive buttons light up with the ACTIVE blue for radar but PASSIVE for the other two.
[*]click the PASSIVE button in the RSIP
[*]Note the drop down in the EMCON settings tab now says Passive but the sensor dialog and map ring are unaffected
Well I hope you get the general idea. There are other combinations of actions that result in other surprising results but if you happen to be sitting with a copy of the code and play for a while with the interactions between these three windows I'm guessing there's probably just one or two things amiss that would fix all of these (why don't you see the pop-up when initiating from the RSIP for instance??). Let me know if more/different information would help...or of course if I'm completely mistaken and this is all WAD
