Is there anyway at all to get Russia to sue for peace. They seem to be like US, UK, Canada, endless. Can it be changed in the editor.

In v31 they surrender once you take all their green/brown urban areas

Thank you. A word about the AI Alvaro. It has thrown me for a loop in my first game 3 times. First the Russians disrupted my supply in Tehran by trying to take it. Then an attack on Africa that I pushed back finally and now an all out attack on France. I love this game. Thanks again for designing this. Very addictive. I'm hoping I can hang on.

I guess when the partisans free a city it becomes a spot where Russia can deploy troops. Just wondering if Ivanov will supply that infantry division?

Look at it like the Warsaw uprising 1944, if the partisans get control of a city then you have a big battle on your hands, with the possibility that the enemy may airlift supplies.

As with other games, keep the cities garrisoned.

So am I understanding the screenshot correctly? You had a 12 strength partisan land unit appear and a partisan air unit? As I understand it Partisans only have weak land units and no air units. I don't think I have ever seen a partisan land unit with strength 12 (but maybe that's possible?).

I believe the partisan freed the city because I moved my Italian troops there by rail and couldn't attack it because my troops didn't have any operational points remaining. I didn't notice it's original strength because I have been moving troops by rail that way in Russia the whole game attacking partisans. On my turn when I went to attack it I noticed that it was of strength 12 and I have now moved in some German troops to help take it out by rail also. (that's the pic above) The city had been taken by Germany long ago. I'm assuming when it was Russia's turn the AI deployed a 12 strength infantry unit along with the fighter in the freed city replacing the partisan unit there(????????????Not sure). The partisan unit was no longer to be found. Note: I'm assuming it was deployed there because the partisan units I have seen thus far in the game have been of 0 strength. I guess I'm asking if the partisan free a city (or a certain type of city) can the AI then deploy troops there?

Still unable to get Russia to surrender. Not sure why? Wiped all the Russian troops also. I also hold Tehran. All of the middle East and Africa.

I have no problem with the partisans in WarPlan (I am one of the few it seems) - except for the fact that a city freed by partisans behind the lines can become deployment spots for full strength units next turn. In most other games new units can only be deployed in areas that are in supply. Perhaps this is worth a consideration here as well.

If the partisans appear in a city (instead of moving there) it is often impossible for the player to get rid of them in the first turn. The situation can be avoided in WarPlan by garrison every town and hamlet behind the front so that partisans can't even pop-up there. But that seems excessive even to me.

Only production cities are supply sources and they are the only cities units may be placed.

Naval units can only be placed in ports size 5 or greater.

You should be garrisoning these locations anyways.

So look at the real war. Do you think the Germans left Kiev ungarrisoned? Or Odessa? Of course they didn't.

But some small town in the middle of nowhere of course they did.

Thanks Alvaro. I didn't realize that the scenarios themselves were version specific. I have no problems with anything in this game. Even the "what if" diplomacy is fun. The partisan action required me to rethink my strategy and protect my supply lines. I believe it was Flaviusx who said the partisans are manageable and so I started looking closer at how supply works in this game. Patience and a good plan is so important when attacking Russia in the long haul. There are some locations (specifically in Russia) on the map that I'm still not sure why they lose supply at times (pic included - thought Finland would supply). Maybe the weather?????? I can usually see when the partisans have attacked every supply line and that's why I've lost supply in area. I also like that the AI can invade me from anywhere on the map, once again makes me rethink my strategy. Furthermore the game can be modded allowing us to add AI scripts. All the qualities of a fantastic game that can be played for a long long time. I've been telling my friends, this is the game to get this year.

Thanks for clarifying - I never noticed that it is only in production cities. That is not quite as bad as I thought.

Sure - but not because they were afraid that some underfed, under-armed and essentially untrained partisans - no matter how brave - form a full strength infantry army and bring up an air flotilla from the local cellar.

This is still wrong …. partisan units should NEVER deploy in corp size units … hell, Div size is wrong as well … Plus they should have air fleets for gods sake …. small PITA units only …..

Shouldn't have air fleets ….

Why not implement partisans like cadre units impacting a % of supply for a given route and modify based on the presence of garrison units … they had an impact but were certainly not large units with offensive capability … the flip side is to also set up security units as a support type and let the axis buy them as they see fit and place them where needed … I truly doubt that security units were ever at the Div level ….. with the possible exception of a very large city ….

More urgent than partisan changes seems to be some changes that will reduce German effectiveness and supply as they move deeper into Russia. Some of the screenshots that I've seen with huge German armies encircling the Urals is really ridiculous if you've done much reading about how difficult it was for the Axis to advance east in Russia over the 3 year campaign due to weather, poor infrastructure, partisan growth behind their lines, fatigue, equipment attrition, and the endless supply of Soviet troops and equipment. It's really silly that in any game a situation like the ones in the screenshots could be reached imo.

I know that but this is also a game. Players need to have a feeling that they can conquer Russia. Generally vs another human they should rarely conquer Russia. It would have to be a large difference in skill for it to happen without the Western Allies doing much.
