A couple of things . . .

Post by stockwellpete »

Just got the game about a week ago. Very nice and offering a different challenge from the earlier War in Europe game. Two things have happened in my game that seem a bit odd . . .

I) In East Africa the British seem to be wading through treacle or something as they are taking an eternity to destroy the Italian units.

II) the British unit in Gibraltar invaded Spain after the USA declared war on Spain! Consequently the Spanish just walked into Gibraltar. Surely that garrison in Gibraltar should just sit tight?

The US declared war on Spain? This was the AI doing this?

Stockwellpete: The AI is not above questionable moves --- on several occasions it has used German garrisons as front line combatants on the eastern front. But a garrison from Gibraltar? Hard to imagine.

The situation in Eastern Africa historically was rather quiet; I've gone the route of reinforcing and upgrading the South African troops, then shipping them to that theatre to join similarly upgraded and reinforced British units. But real inroads are made with a temporary deployment of an air or armored unit from the UK or North Africa. Good luck with your campaign.

Are you playing as Allies or Axis? If you're Axis, I've never seen the AI opponent abandon Gilbraltar. In terms of East Africa, you have to take out the HQ unit with either ground or air units otherwise Italians will hold out for a long time.

Playing as Axis and have an Italian HQ unit in East Africa, which the British units rarely attack even though they are right next to it.

Yes, I am on the outskirts of Moscow and Stalingrad and garrison units are in the front line.

That's an odd one on the Gibraltar garrison abandoning its post, I'll take a look.

I looked at this and for the default campaigns the AI is set to hold Gibraltar, is this possibly for a custom campaign? If not could you tell me which campaign this is for?

It is for the basic 1939-45 campaign.
