502 gateway errors?

Post by BradOrbital »

Anyone else having 502 gateway errors for some links in the forum?
Clicking on some work, some show 502 gateway.
Am I the only one? I know currently we under a massive DDOS attack in the country so might be that affecting things.

I get these all the time. To fix it temporarily you can delete your Matrix cookies, but it will recur sooner or later. This never happened here before Matrix's latest forum "upgrade", and never happens to me on any other site.

It's become really annoying of late (only happens here), but yeah the only way to dump it seems to be too clear all matrixgames.com cookies and then login in again.

Thanks all, also for the aliens, gave me a chuckle. Managed to sort it out only after a little 4meg Windows 10 update. Strange but yeah, that seemed to sort it out, so seems it was some OS gremlins.

For some reason I only have these problems on the Matrix side of the site - I have to access it through Chrome as Firefox gets frequent errors. Conversely the Slitherine side works fine on my Firefox.

So maybe the Slitherine side is using seawater/yodel music? [:D]

I seem to get it on recent (today's) posts. Posts from the previous day, I can always open. Sounds like some sort of replication issue on the Matrix WEB servers.

Yeah, I actually started a thread about this. I think it was in the tech forum. Nothing helped my errors.

Sometimes rebooting works, some times clearing all cookies works, sometimes nothing works. Getting to be a bit of a PITA frankly.

Total PITA. Using Chrome is not a solution, because I use Chrome but still encounter the error.

When this issue was posted on the general forum, I was assured that it was a problem with my system...riiiggghhht!

I use a browser called Brave. (If you're not familiar, look it up. It's big feature is that it doesn't commercialize your data, like Chrome does.)

Brave started giving me the 502 Gateway errors that prompted my thread in Tech Support. Clearing cookies and cache in the overall settings did not help. A benefit of Brave is the control you have. I'll come back to that.

I tried Chrome, and got the same 502 Gateway error.

Since then, and to the present time, only Edge allows me to select all threads and post. (That's what I'm on right now.)

I just tried Brave: it shows 69 active cookies for Matrix. 69. That's a lot for a forum that needs login credentials and proof that you're a human.

Edited to update, below:

I was blocked on Brave. I deleted all 69 cookies by using the control Brave gives you in the header/URL menu. I logged back in and completed the security verification and saved it as a cookie. Now this site seems to fully work...with just 7 cookies.

It's gotta be the cookies.

Definitely the cookies; when I get the error I have two sets of 18 Matrix cookies. When I delete them and log back in, it works for awhile. Also, I wanted to mention that Chrome also provides cookie management via the header/URL field--click on the lock symbol to the left of the URL and you should get a popup showing cookies, etc., which can also be deleted from there.

Thanks guys, yeah still having some issues but a little less than before. Think it is the cookies too. Something somewhere seems to kickoff and then cause the issues. Hopefully sometime they'll fix it. In a wacked way, glad to see its not just me then.
