CW "Lending" Turn 1 & Routing RP's Through Faeores Gap Gap

Post by rkr1958 »

A couple of thinks occurred to me and I thought I'd pass them along (though I suspect many here already know both).

1. The CW can effectively "lend" 1 RP to France on turn 1. Well, really it isn't lending but the CW can setup a convoy line from the New Caledonia RP in the Coral Sea to Southern France running through the Med. When the CW and France DOW German on impulse 2 then CW CP's can be used by France. In effect, this increases French production by 1 PP on turn 1. Also, getting this RP to a French factory in the following turns is just as good as a lent CW PP.

2. A frustration that I run into with resource routing is the game engine "choosing" to send Canadian RP's headed to Great Britain through the Bay of Biscay when I'd rather have them go through the Faeroes Gap. Often times this stubbornness on part of MWiF breaks the route of RP's that I had intended to go through the Bay of Biscay (e.g., South Africa, Cyprus). What occurred to me, and it seems to work, is to "default" those RP's that you want/need to go through the Bay of Biscay to factories in Great Britain. But, leave the non-oil RP's in Canada that you want to travel through the Faeroes Gap not set (i.e., "default" blank).

In my games as Allies I stop the game at USSR breakdowns, going into the production screen and do all the trading, lending, oil saves CP's etc for both Axis and Allies under instruction from the Axis player. Doing it here stops the error where it says you can't assign traded resources to saves or factories and also stops CP routes from resetting. You should be able to set a path via the Faeroes gap and it will stick. I do not save or load a save until the save is for German Production. Reloading a save at any point during final will reset a lot of things. Final production ends up just a formality as everything will be locked in as per what was set during the USSR breakdowns stage. Also I find it best to use up the Canada oil for something else so it doens't get used for a lent resource to China which always seems to default to no matter what you do. I generally use it to reorg things!
