Selling my copy of KP

Korsun Pocket is a the second game using the award winning SSG Decisive Battles game engine. Korsun Pocket recreates the desperate German attempt to escape encirclement on the Russian Front early in 1944. The battle is a tense and exciting struggle, with neither side having a decisive advantage, as the Russians struggle to form the pocket, then try to resist successive German rescue efforts and last ditch attempts at breakout.

If the issues are ever fixed, I'll think about getting it again.

Thanks.

John, out of curiosity, what are the issues you're refering to? I haven't encountered any serious bug so far.

See the "Can't start game" thread in the bug section :) Game won't start, messes up windows fonts, etc.

I am curious to know the brand of your PC.

I say this because when Uncommon Valour was released, I recall some Dell PCs would not run the game. Apparently the first patch fixed the issue.

As for fonts, do you have a LCD monitor?

I build my own pcs, have for years. KP is the ONLY game I've EVER had this problem with, fwiw.

Nope, standard monitor too.

It means your specs are outside the norm.

You need to be very precise with your specs for SSG to help. List everything.

In the bugs thread I don’t see your specs listed there

Thanks, but Marc and Gregor already have them, and to their credit, have been very helpful, even if KP still isn't starting.

And my specs aren't even close to being outside the norm :)

Main reason I'll still try it again after any patch; their trying to help.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting my posts to up load at times but just prior to David's post I was going to say John - do perservere.

You'd know by now that I'm pretty careful with my recommendations but there is some fun to be had here, even if it means waiting for a patch. The first time you do manage to fire the game up it will be a fresh experience I assure you and an interesting one with which to compare.

Thanks Adam, I have no doubt of what you say, as I played a lot of TAO, and still think it's a great game.

I'm sure I'll be playing it at sometime/have no doubt a patch will take care of things; in the meantime, got plenty to keep my busy, and once things are figured out, I'll be firing KP up.

Selling KP

Post by Matthew Urch »

John

I'm really surprised to read that you're selling KP because it won't run. I too build my own PCs, and as a system administrators a huge range of PCs come through my offices over the months. During beta testing I loaded the various builds I was sent on all manner of machines, and had very few problems (and then only with the earlier builds).

If you've made your mind to sell fair enough, but if you'd like to try again to get KP to work please drop me an email (m.urch@ntlworld.com) and I'll try to help. It pains me to think of someone missing out on this game, and as a sys admin I never like to let computers defeat me!

Thanks Matthew, I'll let you know. One nice thing about the 'ole dos days; those of us around then got great experience in tinkering, eh ?

Define GREAT

I used to think that but now have more fun playing games than typing dos command lines to try and fix something.

Sorry to hear about your experince with the game John, I hope to see you around on the ladders sometime in the future.
