How does that happen?

If they exist in the description/photo database they download automatically when you are viewing the unit in game.

Technically the descriptions/images will still be separate downloads, but C:MO will automatically download them.

Niiiiiiiice! [:D]

It does? I've played many of the tutorial missions and I'd say a good 50% of the platforms were missing images - it's the one thing I miss from Harpoon ANW - in that game every platform had photos and even a description describing some of it's history. Most of the CMO ones I have looked at (at least as far as the tutorials are concerned) lack images and the text is purely a numerical technical readout.... Sigh...

Ah cool - thanks. I guess I misinterpreted CMO's functionality - I had thought if there wasn't an image, it would zip off somewhere and grab one - whereas in reality it just tries to grab them from one of their servers - and if its not there its not there.

Popping over to the link as I type :)

The link posted IS the same database that will download on demand within the game.

One thing-Not all platforms have images, much less description files. There are 10000 images in the DB3K set, and almost 5000 in the CWDB set. There are 3000 description files in the DB3K set, and 850 in the CWDB set. BUT, not all platforms have decription files or images. We explain why in the README file at the Warfare Sims webpage. To summarize what it says: THe images are intended to be historically accurate images. Therefore, if the platform is the USS Saratoga from 1985, you get an image of the USS Saratoga from 1985. Not 1990. If the missile is a AA2a ATOLL, you get an image of an AA2a ATOLL. Not an AA2b. Consequentially, it takes time to find appropriate images, much less that are of sufficient quality. And there are very few of us working on this particular project. The good news is that 1) We are continually updating the description and image packages on an approximately quarterly basis, and 2) we are always willing to accept volunteers to help us with this effort. I can promise that if you work with us, I'll double your pay after only one month of production...... ;-)

So how does the game download the images? I've been playing for over an hour and no images have been downloaded yet. Should I leave the DB entry open till it downloads the picture or what?

No image yet in CMO for the Russian BDK Ivan Gren (#2309).
If my image DB is not up to date, please let me now.

If you want me to have a different approach on missing images, let me now and I'll comply.

I believe if you drop off the "https://www." it will not recognize it as a link. For instance, "matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3441939&mpage=18" If you can do that, it will help us out a lot.

Im confused. So does it auto-update itself or do I still need to grab that download every so often?

Thanks

The last update (currently available http://www.warfaresims.com/?page_id=1876) does have DB3K images for both BDK Ivan Gren (#2309) and Boris Chilikin (#2218). If you aren't seeing them, make sure you have the latest version of the image files and that they are installed in the right folders.

Not sure if this is the right place or not...no biggie but found a database error in C:MO build 115.8.1

For entry #718 (AIM-120-C7) the description is for the MIM-23 HAWK SAM. Screen shot attached.
