I have both D-day and Tarawa and sadly D-day still has bugs that plagues gameplay while the last go I had at Tarawa it seems to be complete. The UI is really poor so you have to figure out too much by trial and error and there is no dedicated manual, only the board game one. Other than that, it is a terrific challenge to win which is nice. Despite the site saying no digital download only, you can ask customer service and they can arrange one.

I have WiE; it is OK, but note that there is no AI. Also, IIRC, there were a couple of bugs that were to be resolved in a patch that was never released. Last patch was some five years ago. There appears to be a demo on their website, so maybe you can check it out.

I think that all forum users were banned for life in the Great Decision Games Disaster. I was one. I haven't, and will not, buy anything from them again. I still get regular emails from them which are summarily deleted.

CWIE tries to recreate SPI's War in the East - a classic not easily replicated. CWIE does a decent job, but as stated it does not have an AI so it is played head to head, pbem, or solitaire playing both sides.

Correction's:

CWIE2 (note the first version was written in pascal and only worked on DOS, and CWIE2 was written in C++ for Windows by Karl Lean).

Also, CWIE2 (Computer War In Europe 2) recreates SPI's and DG's (remake) of War In Europe the divisional level board game.

GG War in the East only recreates SPI's War in the East (1974 and 1976) by name only. GG has far surpassed anything that SPI could have created 45 years ago.

I humbly apologize for misnaming CWIE2 as CWIE. Karl and I communicated regarding an error I discovered in the game. I can provide a copies of the emails if necessary.

No apology needed, was just clarification on the name. War in Europe and not War in the East.

I bought their "Napoleons last battles" some years ago. Damn.
I decided that would be my last game from Decision games.

How intriguing, never heard of this epic event--since you are a veteran, what the heck was the "Great Decision Games Disaster"?

The first XCOM. Although there is the second one, I don't like it.
