so this is what it feels like

From the first clash at Manassas to the epic confrontation between Lee and Grant, the Brother Against Brother series will bring new levels of historical detail and realism to the battles of the Civil War. This regimental-level game, created by the developers of the award-winning Forge of Freedom, builds on that game’s acclaimed tactical engine, adding scrupulously researched orders of battle, high-quality map graphics, command and control rules reflecting the numerous challenges faced by army commanders, and plenty other features. Beginning with The Drawing of The Sword – which recreates the pivotal opening battles at Manassas , Wilson ’s Creek, Mill Springs and Williamsburg – Brother Against Brother lets you refight the Civil War from start to finish.

To enter some long deserted village where there is no sign of life.........

Hmmmmm

Initial reactions is that this could have been quite a good game..... there is nothing on this level out there at all.

Shame.

Roger
I have been asking for some sort of a small walk through for this game for ages
I know there are vids etc around but some sort of guided walk through of the first or second moves that i can then print out and follow (something like JT games for example)
But alas it was never to be and because of the lack of a decent tutorial i think that could be the reason this game never took off
No doubt others will disagree but hey thats life

imo most would have liked a better tutorial and different maps maybe, a editor would have been a joy, add in a newer engine, the wish list grows

one of it not the best game imo for it's type, i've not been a fan before this for the time, but now i'm and love it still

what killed it early for me was the battlefield view. The info panels should have been made retractable, youre just looking around things. And when I say early I bought it at release and tried to play 4 times

the game engine and game is like marmite, some love it, others don't, can't say any fairer than that.

those that have played it the most and spent the most time learning how to really play it and enjoy it, enjoy it the most, those who look, spend little time in game, learning and playing and or enjoying, either do or don't, that's life.

compare it to anything of it's type and it holds its own, compare it to any modern engine and modern game, it falls over plain and simple, if the game was re made to day in a new engine, with a modern look, most would hail it as the best game of its type ever made, just by looks alone, looks don't make a game, it's how it plays, the game is and always will be a really special type of game that stands out from the playing side against the AI, not many games play as well, but there's 1000's that look better, have better UI, editors, manuals and also tutorials done better, that's life, if it had everything it would be perfect, but in life, not everything is ever perfect and is what it is, imo the best playing civil war game done yet to date, bar none
