Fatal Error 300

Hi Gang.

I am terrible with tech. Just completed a separate AE install of Big B's Mod and now my install I am using to play Sean with in our Fall 1943 Campaign comes up with Fatal Error 300. It doesn't let me get in at all.

Have I screwed it up somehow with other game install?

How do I fix?

Here is my desktop showing both installs. The new install works just fine. I've downloaded the game from Matrix, done the Update, and am getting ready to download all Brian's files.

Didn't touch the other install that now gives the 300 error...

Error 300 appears when you have two installs of WITP:AE with different serial numbers on one computer.

I could not find my old disk so I picked up a new copy. What do I do about that?

John, In the matrix site, under MY Page, or something, Look thru your games and find AE. There is a complete DL for the game dated sept. 10, 2009. try that. Just make sure that you use the correct serial number....GP

Well, I guess you have to stick with one serial only and remove the installs using the other serial from your computer. Backup the saves. Use IObit Uninstaller to for uninstalls and clearing of the Registry.

EDIT: Or ask the Matrix Support for a workaround. Maybe there is actually a way to have two installs with different serials.

Fatal Errors are NEVER fatal and NEVER result in the death of either the computer or the software.

Have never been able to handle such unmitigated hype.

The serial number gets written into the Windows registry and it is checked when you run the game.
There is only one entry, so if you install with a different serial number it gets over written.
If the two do not match then you get an error.
The fatal part is that the program will not run.

The best way to solve this is just to use the new virgin installation of WiTP with his new disk. Copy the vanilla folder to desktop and reinstall the version of the BTS mod we are using.

If you buy it electronically or register a hard copy with Matrix, it's right there on "My Page", which is one of the options at the Matrix "store".

I have my install, update and text file with serial number in two locations on my computer and on two separate external hard disks.
You do not have to use the CD.

When I had to download the basic game I set the download to "Save" rather than install. I then made a copy of the compressed game file on a USB drive before running the downloaded file to complete the install. Hereafter, I will not have to go to Matrix to reinstall or make a new install of the base game.

Will try Matrix first for my original Serial Number and Download, delete the new game install, and then use the Matrix info to create the new install. IF I read everyone else correctly the new install from the OLD (2009) purchase will then place the correct info on Sean and I's match and we are back in business.

Is that essentially correct?

Your original Serial number should be under the "My Page" tab on the Matrix site....GP
