I bought this game solely becouse of the Blue Max mod as i hate the cluttered up mess that it comes with
But im annoyed now as i cant seem to get it to work on the Matrix version nor the Steam version
The Matrix version wont let me extract into the new mod folder
Perhaps it would be a great idea to perhaps have an alternative download with the mod fully implemented
Reading the forums as to how good this mod is perhaps it might be a good idea seeing as how it was one of the developers who did this mod

Hi Bazjak,

Sorry to hear about the trouble and to clarify this is a 3rd party mod implemented by IronX and not developed by us the Developers of the game.

There is a thread here for the MOD which discusses how to extract it and which folders it should go it, perhaps this will help?

Hi Bazjak

The mod.ini file is created by the game when you activate the mod for the first time in Settings. Consequently, it's not packaged with the mod. It has only one line:

#ENABLED= 1

Hope this helps.

I have STRATEGIC COMMAND WWII: WAR IN EUROPE and the hard manual that i bought seperatly but to be honest i dont even have on my laptop as hate yes hate the maps counters etc
No good on the eye thats for sure

Hi Bazjak,

For Strategic Command WWII: War In Europe, IronX created a similar mod that you might also enjoy. Further details can be found here:

I suspect one issue may be the way the mod is hosted as when it's downloaded, the hosting service zips the mod into numerous other folders.

Once you click on download and open that file, you may need to drill down (double-click) to get to the mod.

After downloading it myself, this is what I see:

The mod files are within two folders called Full Version. You need to keep double-clicking until you see Blue_Max. That's the mod. Extract that to your Mods folder in Documents.

I would say that the explanation provided by Iron X could be the right one. Make sure, that the folder that you drop into the "mods", is the Blue_Max folder that contains the mod files ( bitmaps etc ). When I unzipped the the downloaded mod, I had a folder called Blue_Max, with another folder Blue_Max inside. So make sure, that you copy the second Blue_Max folder into the mods.
Lest we forget.

I believe whatever folder you have in the right mod folder should show on the in game mod list even if it doesn't work in game.. If nothing is showing I'm guessing it's in the wrong folder. I mention it because you said nothing is showing. Originally I didn't notice the extra zip folders in the download and only unzipped the main folder, not the zip folder inside of it. I unzipped to the mod folder, it showed in the mod list but didn't work in game when activated.

If you unzip and move everything the right way, you will have (amongst other) this folder

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWI\Mods\Blue_Max\Bitmaps

If you have done it wrong, the Bitmaps folder is on a different path
