Problem with American units?

For some reason I am unable to get American units to attack. For example, my american Strat bomber would not indicate any targets no matter what target type I chose. British strt bombers would have their targets highlighted and could bomb normally. Similarly, american surface combat units would not attack Italian surface combat units. I kept getting "No Valid Path" messages when no similar message would appear for the British.

Make sure you have declared war with the Americans. You have to manually do this on the target nation, even after they enter the war. This should be probably be defaulted, not sure why it isn't.
