Invading Brunsbüttel

Post by Chocolino »

Looks like there is no connection from the beach hex where the British invasion fleet sits to Brunsbüttel harbor. Just asking: is it intended or oversight?

I noticed that but I honestly hope it is intended that Allies cannot invade in there.

The amount of minefields, coastal batteries, and 'invisible' for this scope of game torpedoboats and small vessels would have made the operation far too much insidious for them to do.
I believe there would be a regular minefield out there too but it is not because in the current game incarnation minefields do not really distinguish from Axis to Allied naval unit.

Agree that British should not be able to invade there nilly-willy. But it is not clear in the game (e.g. why is there a beach hex). On the other hand the sub-scale argument could also be applied to partisan warfare - where it is not used. You have to garrison with a division or nothing.

I have actually also some questions on minefields. I noticed that the British are stopped from entering the Kattegat by the Danish minefield. But they can pass it as soon as Germany declares war on Denmark. Is it that the Danish letting them through? Looks as if minefields do know factions after all. (See Chuck's PBEM for British invasion of Copenhagen).

Ahem.

That would be "Chuck's AAR" for the "British reinforcement" of Copenhagen.

The Danes did build a unit, but it deployed in the USSR as a Soviet unit. I am "almost" sure this really happened.

Technically those are unique border tiles for the Kiel Canal. I changed how the Kiel Canal option worked a while ago but forgot to remove those cosmetic tiles. They are not invadable.

I will be sure to fix that situation the next patch.
Or tonight if they don't get out a patch today.

Oops, I guess I won't get the job of public relations officer for the Imperial General Staff after all.
