Question about 'ammunition' part in datasheet

Post by exsonic01 »

In 'ammunition' part, I can see

MinRange MaxRange accuracyBase accuracyRange softDamageRange AP_Damage AP_DamageRange RoundSpeed

Now, how should I understand those properties? Can anyone explain me detail of those properties?

Such as, damage and round speed on how much target distance, how to decide Accbase, and etc...

I have some numbers for several vehicle's main cannon and APFSDS's estimated RHA at 2km, but not sure how can I write those in this datasheet...

minRange will be zero, since the cannon can engage at point blank

maxRange will be whatever the round's max engagement range is. When I've been modding I've usually just looked at an equivalent round already in the DB. It's usually somewhere between 3000m and 4000m for APFSDS

accuracyBase will be 90. Seems to be 90 for everything not an ATGM. It's the accuracy at point-blank range.

accuracyRange is trickier. That's the range at which accuracy will drop to half of accuracyBase (so in this case a 45% chance to hit). I think these values also get modified by a unit's training.

softDamageRange...I don't think is used for anything. Every value I've seen is zero and the tooltip says "Recommended to keep this zero". Maybe it's something that'll be implemented in the future like the Engineering and NBC tags.

AP_damage is penetration at 0 degrees, 0 meters.

AP_DamageRange is also a bit tough. Think of it as the penetration drop-off over distance. The formula used is ((1-(range/APDamageRange))^2) *APDamage. So if you have penetration values at 0m and 2000m, set ap_Damage to the penetration at 0m and set APDamageRange to whatever will equal that 2000m value when range is 2000m.

roundSpeed is just muzzle velocity.

There is an explanation for those on sticked thread in Research sub-forum. You can also download the Penetration excel calculator there.

softDamageRange is for example used on cannister rounds. There are few in the database.
