More Questions

1. In a game vs the AI I conquered the MidEast as the Axis. Those resources of oil are never available to the Axis at that point are they without a direct land route? It didn't appear they were.

2. In another Axis AI game Yugoslavia had to be DOW'd upon it never seemed to change on it's historical date, is that always the case?

3. On Both sides I have tried to figure out how to get more Command Points. I read somewhere I Think in the manual that one factor can be HQs? More the merrier?

4. Finally Naval Combat is dizzying. Strategically is seems an abstraction with escorts. Directly it appears as though things are highly confusing as the Manual states(the ocean is massive and working there is/was a pain). Though Air Power seems quite a powerhouse here... I would say a lot more bang for your buck using air power over Naval power for the Axis and for the Allies a Mixture of both. Would you agree?

#1 the best way to get mid east oil is to take the Syrian rail line and move to Iraq.

#2 I am not understanding this question. What do you mean change on its historical date?

#3 Command points are based on your production.

#4 Land based air is a powerhouse vs ships. That is a matter of fact. If you look at the Battle of the Philippine Sea the USN had 900 CV aircraft that were trained. The Japanese had ~750 total aircraft of novice pilots. But it took that size American force to ensure the control of the sea. If the Japanese had as trained pilots and 150 more aircraft that would have been a high casualty battle. While air power wasn't nearly as effective vs land units during WW2 vs naval units it was deadly. If it wasn't the UK would be able to port strike Italian ports at will. Navies and air power in WarPlan are a game of chess. Pay attention to the detection levels in the information panel and give multiplayer vs a human a try.
