Here is a guide, with access to complete installations.

Make a backup copy of the entire Art Folder, that way you can replace what you don't like.

Halsey already pointed you to the art … they are all great. Just depends upon your machine as to how many you can load up.

Against the AI, you will quickly have to move to an Ironman version. They are the only ones that provide sufficient challenge.

The sound files can also be modified.

Sounds that you find particularly irritating can be deleted or replaced.

The game will play mp3 sound files if you rename them exactly like whats in the
game and change the file extension from .mp3 to .SFX which the game uses.

Windows media player will play the SFX file extensions as well.

Make a backup of the sound folder before you modify.

Below I’ve marked the music files which can be replaced with your own custom music.
Just don’t add too large a file because the game randomly rotates them and if they are too
large the game will often skip them or drop another one out.

I personally like to add my favorite WW2 music which gives the game some context when
I do long orders turns. I turn the music off before I run the turn resolution.

This site has some WW2 music that can be downloaded:
http://6thcorpsmusic.us/
Or you can minimize the site and it will cycle the songs as you play the game.

Of interest is if you open the games news file you can play the Tokyo Rose sound files.
Some of them I’ve never heard in the game but it is interesting what the designers
thought Tokyo Rose would comment on in game.

Also, it is how I learned to pronounce Balikpapan when I was learning the game.

Merry Christmas.

Any music recommendations when I play the Japanese side? [;)]
Many players don't use music at all.

When I play Japan I have my own individual music mix.
I don’t like traditional Japanese military music. I do like Japanese Epic Bushido, Japanese fantasy.
I also like Sea Epic Music and Pirate music for my Japanese games.

A Tale of Sea Dragons is one of my favorites, I use it in the game.

Japanese music can be harder to find in one place because you want it piece by piece
with a small size instead of the long play.

Try this site: h2MP3.com
In the search box type:

Marcus Warner - A Tale of Sea Dragons
or Japanese WW2 music
or Japanese Epic Bushido music
or Japanese Fantasy Music
or Japanese Epic music

I like this:
Epic Japanese Battle Music – Bushido The Way of The Warrior.
