Question for Mr. Alvaro

Warplan is a World War 2 simulation engine. It is a balance of realism and playability incorporating the best from 50 years of World War 2 board wargaming.

Question for Mr. Alvaro

Post by octred »

I recently bought WarPlan. It is a very good game :)

I have a question

Are you planning to add more features to the game ? or this is a final shape of a game and only fixes will be coming ?

I mean are you planning to keep expanding this game in the future ?

I added one new moderate feature post release and it created a catastrophe of bugs. It was allowing convoy lanes to be turned on and off. Large changes need testing.

There are some things I might add that are small changs. One I am thinking about and working through is naval blockade of a port. The interception code is already in place.

But mostly it will be bug fixes and small adjustments. For example recently I did not allow units in garrison status to invade. That is a small adjustment in code that doesn't impact anything.

The Pacific will have larger changes as it will go through proper beta testing. As players play this game I will get to see what works and what can be added not to break the game. With anything that is invented you have to go in small steps. There probably will be a global game but I am not sure yet. The size of that game would be huge in scale. Players might be intimidated to play it despite WarPlan's ease of use.

Just make it multiplayer friendly and there won't be any issues with daunting player turns.

Players are having multiplayer problems for sure. But these all seem to be on their end not mine. We did multiplayer on beta and it worked just fine.

Like these upload problems have to do with admin rights during installation it seems.
OR
An Antivirus program removed a part of the program post installation thinking it was bad
OR
hidden files not being marked as visible and the game not seeing them.

I have no AV running on my system. Just the firewall. Never had a problem logging in unless the server is down.

As for saved games and no connection. That is a tricky bunch. If I make a save file players can cheat. If I don't make a save file they can get stuck doing the same turn.
