Question about supply interdiction

Look at this:


The German Armor is in Cherbourg. I am the Axis. There is supply interdiction and somebody loses 60 stockpile. Who is losing those 60? The Germans? If so, why? What supply convoy would that be? Confused [&:]


Here is another one:


I think the port of Malta is interdicted by the Italian air units. So the UK loses supply I think. But the the message is confusing. It says "enemy air forces". I am playing the Italians. Shouldn't that be "friendly" air forces interdicted Malta and destroyed supplies [&:]

Alvaro, could you make the combat reports clearer? Don't just state the numbers, but also mention Axis or Allies in the message. That would make things less confusing. Combat messages in general could use a little love IMHO.

Ok, so in the case of Malta the message should be something like: "Allied supply convoy attacked by Axis air forces, the Allies lose 20 stockpile of supplies". I get it.

In the case of Cherbourg I am still confused. Playing Germany I took Cherbourg. The turn after that I get the message as show in the screenshot. But what supply convoy is interdicted?
I simply conquered Cherbourg. Sure it is a port city, but is there a sea supply (of the Axis) route to Cherbourg that suddenly gets interdicted? The Armor unit is cut off supply, but that only happened last turn, so there is no need for a supply route over the sea. Is that supply route created immediately by the game, even though I do not want that (given that is way too vulnerable and thus costly)?

It would be be fine, to get more clarity.

Alvaro, also with the messages of regular combat it could be a good thing to clarify things a bit. There too Axis and Allies would make things instantly clear. Now you only see names of units. Often I do not recognize the names and have to click to see if the mentioned unit is actually friendly or enemy. Or show the flags of the units in the message.

And keep up the good work. I really like Warplan. You have a winner here. Bugs are becoming fewer and fewer. And the balancing is improving as well. That last one is always tough. But I think you are doing a great job here.

Concerning Cherbourg:


I see a supply convoy to Cherbourg (with a red value). I get it now. The German Armor corps took Cherbourg, but lost its over land supply lane. I did that on purpose by the way, knowing that the land supply would be restored next turn anyway. And besides that, the unit itself has supply for a few turns anyway before suffering adverse effects. But the game automatically created a sea supply convoy to Cherbourg immediateley anyway. That is a good thing on paper, but in this case my deliberate move to Cherbourg cost me 60 supplies because Cherbourg is a very dangerous place to ship supplies to ... by ship. Argh.

I know that these kind of situations don't occur every turn, but when it happens it is annoying. I did not want/need that sea supply convoy to Cherbourg, but got it anyway! Not sure if it is worth fixing and how, but still.

Supply isn't a resource you hold in stockpile. It is just generated. The limitation is in delivering.

Much like the world produces enough food to feed everyone. No one should starve. Getting it to places in need is the problem.

As for the above. They look great but with the current system of reports it is just not possible. It would take a complete rewrite and some very fancy coding.

I think there may be another underlying problem though - at least last time I checked the Editor - there is a slim chance that merchant shipping or transport capacity is sunk when delivering supplies under interdiction.
That's perfectly logic by itself - but when a player has no control over that and supply convoys go from Germany to let's say Brest or Cherbourg when you still have an immaculate or almost so railroad to it - it makes little sense.

Still think the whole ordeal needs a severe review there as it came out that ports anyhow are offering supplies no matter what. (ie Baku for Germany, or Malta for UK even if Axis closed the Mediterranean).

Ow well, I was just having some fun with those pics (I am a sucker for chrome in a game, hehehe). But if you fix it by adding words like 'Axis' and 'Allies' in the messages that is fine too. As long as it is clear what happened in the reports.

I concur on the need of a split of which submarine sank what (given the Convoy lane name may help but one never knows).
Since units are subject to renaming, the Brits can easily name their own submarine U-8!
