bf 109Ga-2 and Ga-6

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

bf 109Ga-2 and Ga-6

Post by Mappo »

Hi all, I have seen that these two fighters are in production only from September the first and November the second, but they are in the Axis order of battle from the beginning with over 100 Ga-2 and two dozen of Ga-6 . Will this change, anticipating the availability by production or deleting them, in future patches ?
By the way, what does Ga mean? May be "foreign version" ?
Thanks in advance

Hi.
I think the Ga does refer to a foreign operator as the USSR gave versions of their tanks to sympathetic governments but they were not fitted with all the gizmo's. T-55 is an example.
You will see the Ga-6 is not as good as a regular G6 but better than those Avia and other homebuilt stuff.
Tip - Do not build them. Once you have over 500 of a type in stock your Axis minor countries can upgrade to this type and this is the same for each type.
Note, if you upgraded one Romanian Gruppe, moved on to the next day and this takes your stock below 500 you will not be able to upgrade until over 500 available again. But if the first day you have over 500 you changed all those units that's fine. Only at the end of the day does it check to see if you have the +500 in stock.
I think, but am not 100% sure, that going over 500 of a type allowed your allies to upgrade from any type you produce or this might happen on a certain date.

Thanks, I will try it as soon as possible. Currently I try to build as many FW190A6 as possible, as soon as I have 500 Fw190 I will do as you suggested

The 190 is a fine fighter but loses performance above 20,000 ft. This is factored into the game. You need those 109's as well. Try to get the G5AS into service ASAP. Fast, good climb and manoeuvrable. Also the best thing you can get to take on recons until the K4 shows up.

The -a designator was used for export models but also for foreign-produced and re-imported models
The Bf 109 E-3a was a german-produced E-3 exported to countries like Switzerland.
The Bf 109 Ga-2 was a Hungarian-produced G-2 imported back to Germany
This designator seems to have been dropped after the takeover of hungarian factories as the G-10/G-14 produced there were plain G-10/G-14
