Thinking of buying

Warplan is a World War 2 simulation engine. It is a balance of realism and playability incorporating the best from 50 years of World War 2 board wargaming.

Thinking of buying

Post by Vasquez »

I got a 47% Coupon for my 19 Years Matrix Membership and thinking of buying this one.

I read a lot about bugs and missing patches for Warplan lately.

Is it worth the purchase at the current state?

Yes.
There was some impatience, not really missing patches - the game is well supported and receiving a steady flow of updates.
IMO the game is also stable, with some non game breaking bugs - nothing out of the ordinary for a completely new game design.

If you are impatient there you can now also get the beta patches.

Good strategic level game.

Is it perfect, no.
But few here have been really dissatisfied with the general quality of WarPlan or its gameplay.

IMHO Yes!

I agree with Simulacra, great game “out of the box”, no game breaking bugs, lots of support by the dev

I found it to be a fresh new concept for a strategic game.
And the support from Alvaro is first class. Really!
I am recommending it.

Alvaro ist unglaublich aktiv und denkt über Anregungen nach.
Beste Grüsse nach München. [:)]

It is a good buy IMHO. Having lots of fun with it. Bugs are squashed at a high rate. First class support from the dev. Go for it.

Warplan may become my top pick for an online/computer rendition of the traditional table-top, strategy board game. It is highly playable and eliminates a LOT of the fiddling with minutia that is threaded through many other similar products. Alvaro has done a great job on that front.

The latest official patch definitely has a game breaking bug. Soviet Armour and Mech units are basically halved in defence from 1942 on.

The beta's fix that. So hopefully the next official patch will be ok.

Reccomending to buy it.

Playable game without headhache micro to gain +X% - as someone else pointed out.
Alvaro (the designer) is very active in supporting the game and the community.

The best game you can find in the genre at the moment.
