Fleets Amphibious Bug

Post by battlevonwar »

I have beta tested an issue with fleets and amphibious units working together. I notice sometimes when I move a fleet and land unit by sea to a hex to invade it, it locks up the option to amphibious invade. Just now I was practicing this in game. A land unit was on a Hex about to invade Norway I move a Destroyer over it and it now no longer can use the amphibious option though it could before. This doesn't always happen but it happens quite a bit for some reasons a Fleet will lock up a land unit from amphibious landing and I'm not sure why.

Is there a valid reason? Or is this a known/unknown bug? I recall nowhere in the manual where it states this should be the case?

It is how it is designed. I tested various methods on how to do this effectively with minimal management, gameyness, realism, and confusion to players. This is the solution when making all considerations. If you make a mistake it is why I have an undo button

Alvaro, why the feature this way though? Undo a move works okay for something like this but I notice with stacks of Navies and Amphibious units I get odd results. Like I just moved the Italian Navy with a Corp in game to a hex in Greece and the naval invade button is valid but there in no red hex. Other times there is no option at all... Should put it in the manual or another place down the road though that Amphib units may or may not work with stacks in this case so as to not confuse a player... for such a move could cost you. You cannot undo more than 1 unit at a time either. Sorry if I'm troubling you but this is a rather deep and important feature.

If you more move than 24 hexes you can't invade. Each operation point is 24 hex movement. You need an operation point to attack.

I'll check the rules to make sure it is clear enough.

Was definitely in range.

Went through and tried about 10 naval invasions and what I noticed was this...

1. If 1 stack of Naval unit is part of a different country than the amphibious land unit...and isn't at war with the same nation, you cannot use the amphibious feature if you don't DOW before arriving at the beachhead. So that does make sense... I think this is right?

2. If an amphibious unit goes out to a beach and then a friendly DD or any naval unit joins it it cannot then perform an amphibious invasion it must disembark together with the amphibious unit/fleet as one unit. Pretty sure this is right?

3. I will check again if any of this turns out different.

I'm pretty sure it all makes sense... Just trying to clarify as if a person doesn't know these rules and gets fancy boy he will run into some issues.
