Questions

Post by Zovs »

Okay so I am long time ASL player and this game does seem to incorporate many elements of ASL and SL. So here are some questions:
  • 1. Is there any HOB in this game? (Heat of Battle)
  • 2. Is there any HW in the game? (Human Wave)
  • 3. We have established there is no multi-hex FG but it may come in the future and there is no Armored Assault and that may come in the future. Is there any Cavalry in this game?
  • 4. I read in the manual that there is a way to use the middle mouse button to display possible combat odds, but I have no middle mouse button, so is there a shortcut key, if so what is it?
  • 5. Normally when playing board ASL, all MMC have 4 MF and all SMC have 6 MF, while playing in person you count out your MF expenditures (similar you do the same in VASL), but I don't see anything showing the total MF costs of moving SMC and MMC displayed in the bottom box. How can you see this, it would be useful to see especially for AFV instead of having to guess how much you spend as you start, stop move, etc. How to do this?
  • 6. It would be really useful if I could see the actually Fire Attacks firepower when I select units, for example if I was playing the board game I can easily look at my units and count up oh I got an 8 up 1 attack here or I got 12 down two here, etc. How can I see the firepower?

That is all for now.

Also, I have been "trying" to play with Fog of War (FOW) on but its never on (on the beta patch now), I don't see any way to gain or strip concealment (?) counters. Why?

Hi Zovs,

Here are my answers to your questions.

  • 1. Yes there is
  • 2. No there isn't
  • 3. FGs: No not at the moment, Cavalry: No
  • 4. There are no shortcut key for this finction. I would recommend you to use a third party software like Xmouse to assign a key
  • 5. As TotH isn't ASL some functions are simillar to ASL but are solved differently within the program. This isn't a function that is shown and it won't be as to the designers wishes.
  • 6. If you use any ASL mod this will work very well with the TotH standard and you'll see the firepower on the units. You will have to keep track of the total firepower in your head as you do in ASL

Fog of War isn't using Concealment as in ASL, it uses the logic of if you see me or not. Terrain will hide you as will elevation and also how far you can see in the scenario.

Paullus,

I tried using that xmouse but it's not really working for the key I tried to assign for the middle mouse button. I'll keep playing with it but so far no luck.

Hopefully the developer can make a short cut key for those that do not have middle mouse buttons.

Otherwise that feature is useless.
